Things you should know about the new metal laws that became effective January 1st, 2010:

Ferrous items- (steel, cast iron, tin, cars etc)

- No payment changes, still able to receive cash on delivery

Non-Ferrous items- (copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, lead, batteries, etc)

- Business/Commercial Sellers

- Individuals Sellers

1. For transactions of non-ferrous metal property, a check will be written and held for three business days. The check will then be mailed to your valid street address that is on file with us. PO Boxes are allowed if listed on DMV issued ID.

2. A valid name, address, phone number & vehicle plate number must be in your file.

3. We cannot purchase any kegs, except from a distributor or someone licensed with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

4. You can cash your check at any Wells Fargo for free; two pieces of ID are required.

Metal Transportation Certificate

SB 570 created a new crime for Unlawfully Transporting Metal Property. If a person transports metal property on a public highway or on premises open to the public with the intent to deliver the metal property to a scrap metal business and the person does not have a metal transportation certificate in their possession, it is a Class C misdemeanor.
